WHAT IS A COMPUTER COMPOSED OF?

Let's get out of the internal mechanics at the level of bits and look at the computer from a broader scope.Picture of a computer

We got a main part (to the right on the picture) which is visible as the computer case. It contains the essential elements of the computer (see below).

To that unit are plugged the keyboard, monitor and mouse. As you came up to here we will suppose you know what they are... Note that the keyboard and mouse allow you to input informations into the computer and to make it carry out actions. The screen allows you to view as text or graphics (pictures, photos, and so on) informations contained in the machine. Thus the mouse and keyboard are input devices and the monitor is an output device.

The computer case

This case is housing various parts of which some are still peripherals. Let's open up the case and see what's inside... Click on the various areas of the pictures or on the names to get more pictures. More explanations will follow in the next pages.
